Watch-related news spread across the Internet today as movie star and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was held by customs officials at the Munich airport over what is purported to be an undeclared perfect replica Audemars Piguet wristwatch. According to reporting by CBS News, Schwarzenegger was en route to Austria, where his climate charity, the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative, was hosting an auction at the Austrian World Summit. The watch – apparently a unique 1:1 fake Audemars Piguet made specifically for the Arnold – was set to be auctioned off there.
Speaking of Arnold-centric aaa quality replica Audemars Piguet watches, we have to mention his link to the brand through the film End of Days way back in the 1990s. Ben Clymer sat down with the brand’s now previous CEO François-Henry Bennahmias on Talking Watches in his final days in the role. During the episode, Bennahmias shared just how important that limited edition fake watch was to him and to the brand. Both Arnold and Swiss made copy Audemars Piguet are very much tied to one another so it makes a lot of sense that he would have had such a special watch with him – and was planning to put that watch toward charitable efforts.
Back to this story, it appears as though Schwarzenegger was held up for a considerable amount of time (most outlets have it at three hours) where a multitude of issues over payment of the tax bill for the Swiss movement replica Audemars Piguet mounted. Here’s a quote from the CBS report just to give you a taste:
Although the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative claims to have intended to properly declare the best quality copy watch after the auction has been completed, it looks as though it won’t be going with him to Austria and will remain at the Munich Airport.
